For this project I was asked to create a poster for a free music event at Macarthur Park. The event was called Jueves, the Spanish word for Thursday, as a nod to the day of the week when it was held.
Because it was a pop-up event and the poster would be mainly shared on social media, the organizers requested a tongue-in cheek illustration that related to the theme of Thursday. I chose to illustrate a popular meme of a cow with a child's toy car on its head. The caption reads, Thursday. The organizers found the sentiment relatable, so I went ahead and traced the image.
I chose to use the Chuck typeface because of its videogame-like quality. I paired it with Helvetica Neue Condensed Black because it's an easy to read and slim font that contrasts nicely with the chunky Chuck.
